Mysha's Pick
Man I Need, Olivia Dean
There's something about this song that just hits the sweet spot — laid-back, soulful, and full of charm. I love how effortlessly Olivia Dean delivers it and instantly brightens your mood every time you hear it.
Sam's Pick
Eventide, Rachel Portman
I had the pleasure of interviewing the very talented Rachel Portman recently (interview is now live on our blog), and among other things, we discussed the release of some brand-new piano solo compositions which will feature on an upcoming album. On first listen, "Eventide" blew me away — it's such a beautiful piece, and a new favorite for me to sit down at the piano and play.
Becca's Pick
Baby Shark, Pinkfong
If you've spent any time around kids lately, you probably know "Baby Shark" — the unstoppable earworm that's taken over the world since Pinkfong's version went viral in 2016. It's currently on heavy rotation in our household, courtesy of my toddler. We sing it in the car, on walks, and even while running errands. As a special treat, I'll play this arrangement on the piano — which never fails to earn enthusiastic applause and squeals of delight.
Annie's Pick
Nocturne in B Major, Op.62, No.1, Frédéric Chopin
The 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition is taking place this month in Warsaw, and it's all I've been listening to the last few days. Chopin is one of my favorite composers and it somehow doesn't get old listening to competitor after competitor playing his music. I plan on getting back to learning this particular Nocturne, which has a very ethereal feeling throughout.
Jacklyn's Pick
Everywhere, Michelle Branch
I chose "Everywhere" by Michelle Branch because it instantly takes me back to the early 2000s. That era of CD players, radio countdowns, and feeling like every song somehow understood you. There's something about Michelle's voice and the soaring chorus that always hits a little piece of nostalgia for me. It's one of those songs that makes me want to roll down the windows, sing at the top of my lungs, and remember simpler times when life just felt a little more open and full of possibility.
Jill's Pick
Uninvited, Alanis Morissette
For whatever reason, this tune has been everywhere lately–from a Brandi Carlile cover in my TikTok feed to a rocking rendition I heard on a local marching band field last weekend. And I'm not mad at it! It's hard to believe "Uninvited" is over 25 years old; it still sounds fresh and unique to my ears. Plus, it's a perfect addition to any spooky season playlist!
