Golden (from KPop Demon Hunters), Huntr/x (Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami)
I'm not generally a big pop listener, and not having kids, I was slow to hop aboard the KPop Demon Hunters train. But it only took one listen to "Golden" to be hooked! This one has it all: a catchy melody, great vocals, and rolling 12/8 beat that makes it hard to stop listening. 5 stars, no notes!

Defying Gravity (from Wicked), Stephen Schwartz
My song pick this month is "Defying Gravity" from the Wicked soundtrack — an all-time favorite I first fell in love with because of Idina Menzel's powerhouse vocals. With Part 2 of the film adaptation coming out later this month, it feels like the perfect moment to revisit this iconic, soaring anthem.

When Christmas Comes to Town (from The Polar Express), Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri
There's something magical about this song that instantly brings me into the spirit of the holidays. "When Christmas Comes to Town" captures that quiet anticipation and childlike wonder that comes with this time of year — the lights, the coziness, and the feeling of warmth even on the coldest days. Every time I hear it, I'm reminded of the joy and nostalgia that the holiday season brings. It makes me slow down, appreciate simple moments, and feel ready to embrace the comfort and togetherness that come with the end of the year.

Siciliano BWV 1031, J.S. Bach
My pick for this month is the beautiful "Siciliano BWV 1031" by J.S. Bach. When hearing this for the first time, you probably wouldn't suspect that it's a Bach piece, with it being more melody based and less contrapuntal. Several arrangements for piano have been adapted from the original Flute and Harpsichord Sonata's slow 2nd movement.

Anxiety, Doechii
The Grammy 2026 nominees were just announced, and I was excited to see "Anxiety" up for Song and Record of the Year. This song was everywhere this year, and I also love how it flips the iconic Gotye song into something totally new.
Sam's Pick
Little Blue, Jacob Collier (feat. Brandi Carlile) (arr. Ben Bram)
Jacob Collier's Djesse Vol. 4 has probably been my most-listened-to album since its release last year, and one of the highlights for me is the stunning "Little Blue," featuring Brandi Carlile. When I first heard it, it immediately struck me as a song that would work really nicely for choir, and Ben Bram's arrangement for SATB divisi does the job beautifully.
