Becca's Pick
I Speak Jesus, Charity Gayle

"I Speak Jesus" by Charity Gayle is a powerful worship song that reflects themes of peace, hope, and strength in times of uncertainty, making it both meaningful and uplifting to sing and play. It's also been a personal favorite during difficult seasons, and its soaring melody and heartfelt message serve as a beautiful reminder of the comfort and encouragement that faith can bring into everyday life.

Mysha's Pick
Edge of Seventeen, Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks has such a unique voice and style, and Edge of Seventeen is a song that really shows it. I always love the driving rhythm and dramatic energy of this track. For Women's History Month, it feels like the perfect excuse to highlight one of rock's most iconic artists.

Jill's Pick
I Have Nothing, Whitney Houston

You can't celebrate music in Women's History Month without the GOAT. Whitney's catalog represents the best of a very specific time in music history, but her voice is enduring. She revolutionized pop vocals with her gospel roots and incredible technique, but everything she sang was anchored in the heart. I still get goosebumps every time I hear her, and "I Have Nothing" is such a great example of everything I love about her music.

Jacklyn's Pick
Crystallize, Lindsey Stirling

"Crystallize" by Lindsey Stirling has always been a piece that stood out to me. I've been a fan of hers for years and have attended four of her concerts, and even had the chance to meet her once. Seeing her perform live is incredible. She not only plays the violin beautifully, but also incorporates choreography into her performances, dancing across the stage while playing some really difficult passages. It's something that always amazes me to watch. The melody in "Crystallize" is powerful and emotional, and the blend of classical violin with electronic elements gives the piece such a unique energy. Hearing it live made me appreciate even more how much creativity and discipline goes into what she does as an artist.

Sam's Pick
World on Fire, Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan might just have the most soothing voice in popular music, and "World on Fire" will always be a poignant song for me due to the time in my life that it was released. The song was written in response to the 9/11 attacks, and whilst it deals with the feeling of helplessness that many of us will be able to relate to, it serves as an important reminder of our shared humanity in times of crisis.

Annie's Pick
A Wee Bit of Erin, Florence Price

I've been looking through the Florence Price compositions featured in Hal Leonard's recent Florence Price: Undiscovered Gems publication, which features 20 previously unpublished works. One of my favorites so far is "A Wee Bit Of Erin" which as a really charming chord progression throughout. If you're a piano teacher looking for new repertoire for your students, you should definitely check out this collection!
