Exclusive! Hauschka on His Inspiration for "Can You Dance for Me"
We've caught up with Hauschka (Volker Bertelmann) and asked him about his latest album "Abandoned Cities/I Close My Eyes", the inspiration behind it and how he translated his ideas into music.
This resulted in a series of intimate videos in a studio setting where the composer talks about several tracks from the album and describes his ideas and inspirations for each of them in an unparalleled detail.
"Can You Dance For Me" is the first video from the series with a simple context behind it. Hauschka says: "I wrote this piece by imagining somebody just with me in the room and dancing for me..."
This seemingly simple concept resulted in a beautiful, enchanted melody that perfectly translates the composer's imagination into sound. Watch it now and enjoy...
