Jill's Pick
Tenor Madness, Sonny Rollins

When I'm feeling uninspired and don't know what to practice, I take it back to the basics and play the blues. Working through blues changes, there are always a ton of charts to learn, new things to discover, and classics to revisit. I'm certainly no Sonny Rollins on tenor but it's therapeutic practice nonetheless!

Annie's Pick
Misty, Erroll Garner

"Misty" was written by Erroll Garner in 1954, inspired by the misty clouds as he landed at O'Hare in Chicago. Lyrics were added later by Johnny Burke at the request of several artists who wanted to record the song. I like the steady movement of this particular Piano Solo arrangement, as well as the variation of accompaniment in the left hand.

Jacklyn's Pick
Home, Michael Bublé

If I had to pick a jazz-themed song, I would pick this one because it saved me through a lot of hardships during my time in the military, being away from loved ones. As a modern pop-jazz artist, Michael Bublé performs this number well and it definitely hits "home" when I listen to this song.

Sam's Pick
Afro Blue, Robert Glasper (feat. Erykah Badu)

"Afro Blue" is a jazz standard dating back to the late 50s, and this particular version, released on Robert Glasper's 2012 album Black Radio, is my vibe to a tee. Glasper's exquisite production combined with Erykah Badu's hypnotic vocals are the perfect soundtrack for a balmy spring evening.

Becca's Pick
Killing Me Softly With His Song [jazz version], Roberta Flack (arr. Brent Edstrom)

Written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel in 1971 and most famously recorded by Roberta Flack two years later, this Grammy-nominated song is one of my current jams, and this jazz arrangement Brent Edstrom does not disappoint!

Louise's Pick
From the Start, Laufey

Blending jazz influences with contemporary pop, Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has gained international recognition for her unique sound. Her elegant, jazzy style is prominent in this track, which playfully combines Billie Holiday-esque vocals with a laid-back bossa nova feel.
