Selena Gomez's first Billboard Hot 100 number one single from her recent album Rare is a beautiful lyrics-focused piano ballad. Among the co-writing credits is fellow pop star and friend Julia Michaels.

Right Now, Van Halen
Combining Sammy Hagar's vocals and Eddie Van Halen's keyboard riff, this song has been deemed one of Van Halen's more adventurous pieces, and is a fun challenge to master on the keys.

Return to the Heart, David Lanz
Before there was Yiruma, there was David Lanz. A Grammy-nominated pianist and prolific New Age composer, David Lanz's "Return to the Heart" is a beautiful solo piano piece every pianist should know. A great fit for wedding ceremonies.
Dan's Pick
Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, Joey Batey
This catchy tune comes from the popular new Netflix series The Witcher. Written by composers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli, "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" tells of the adventures between the main character Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and a humble bard named Jaskier (Joey Batey). It's one of the standout songs from the show and a fun one to play – even if you don't play the lute!
Sam's Pick
Slide, James Bay
Best known for his 2014 single "Hold Back the River," English singer-songwriter James Bay released his second studio album Electric Light in 2018. Bay puts down his guitar for "Slide" which is a moving gospel-tinged piano & vocal ballad. The song closes with the recital of an Allen Ginsberg poem underpinned by a serene piano outro. A lesser-known gem well worth learning!

Black Math, The White Stripes
Stand well back, for the fireworks are about to go off. This is incendiary garage/blues rock from the ragged outset, through the soaring solo to the stuttering coda. Detroit's favorite son and his "sister" were rarely in finer form.
