Bill's Pick
Where Is My Mind?, Pixies
Possibly most-remembered for its usage at the end of the film Fight Club, "Where is My Mind?" features some pretty cool chord progressions, alongside classic Pixies lyrics by the legendary Frank Black. Watch for the key though – you may want to consider transposing this one.
Becca's Pick
Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours), Stevie Wonder
Although this song was first released over 50 years ago (in 1970), it's a timeless, popular hit that you'll hear at weddings and other summer festivals. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" was the first song that Stevie Wonder produced by himself, and he received his sixth Grammy nomination for the song as well.
Annie's Pick
1 step forward, 3 steps back, Olivia Rodrigo
My pick this month is "1 step forward, 3 steps back" from Olivia Rodrigo's debut album SOUR. This song caught my attention with the time signature change, moving from 6/8 in the verse to 4/4 in the chorus. Fun fact: this is also one of two songs off the album that Rodrigo co-wrote with Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff.
Sam's Pick
Don't Start Now, Dua Lipa (arr. Deke Sharon)
3x Grammy nominated song "Don't Start Now" is an infectious upbeat pop song from British pop sensation Dua Lipa, and this a cappella arrangement by Deke Sharon captures all the energy of the original and will undoubtedly be a fun sing for unaccompanied vocal groups.
Laura's Pick
Fell in Love With a Girl, The White Stripes
"Fell in Love with a Girl" is a frenzied and carefree tune begging to be played loud from The White Stripes' third album White Blood Cells. Even though the song is high energy, I love how at the last line of each verse, the musical arrangement comes to an abrupt stop.
Chris' Pick
Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel), Billy Joel
This piano ballad, from Billy Joel's River of Dreams album, includes a beautiful melody and lush chord changes that inspire from beginning to end.
