We're a team of musicians who love music of various styles and, when we're not busy with all things Sheet Music Direct, play at home, church, and gigs. Each month, we're sharing some of the favorite songs we're currently playing and why we think you'll love them too. We Don't Talk About Bruno (from Encanto), Lin-Manuel Miranda
Lin-Manuel Miranda has created another musical soundtrack that is bright and lively as it is catchy. "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the new Disney movie release Encanto is about the estranged uncle of the magical family, the Madrigals. While all the songs to this soundtrack are memorable, you might find this particular song stuck in your head for days after playing it. ("…we don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no…").

If I Were a Man (from The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical), Barlow & Bear
About a year ago, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear began writing songs that would become The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical live on their TikTok and Instagram accounts. Since then, their videos have had millions of views, and their concept album has been nominated for a Grammy award. I'm so excited that we have the sheet music, so that I can play piano just a little bit like Emily Bear! Arrangements for Easy Piano are now available as well.

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?, Moby
From Moby's 1999 hit album, Play, "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" features a unassuming repeating piano riff and chord progression which I absolutely adore. And with its use of only a few sampled lyrics, singing along couldn't be easier. A beautifully simplistic, but melancholy piece I absolutely recommend for any pianist looking to expand their repertoire.

The Music of James Bond, Michael Brown
The James Bond films feature some of the most iconic movie themes, starting with Monty Norman's 1962 original which has defined the franchise for decades. Band directors should definitely check out Michael Brown's powerful new medley with flexible scoring, which includes Billie Eilish's award-winning "No Time to Die," along with "Skyfall," "Live and Let Die," and "Goldfinger". And if you don't have a band to play this arrangement with, you can find all the best Bond songs for your instrument here.

Memories, Ryan Stewart
Many days of the week, I start my morning with a cup of coffee and some light, relaxing instrumental music. Last year, while listening to relaxing piano music on Pandora, I came across piano compositions from Ryan Stewart and I've been a big fan of his music ever since; my personal favorite is "Memories". Take a listen and see if you agree :)

Shoshone Love Song, Traditional Native American Poem (arr. Roger Emerson)
I recently rediscovered this emotive arrangement by Roger Emerson which I used to sing in youth choir some 25 years ago. From the opening piano intro to the luscious harmonies in the chorus, it is a beautiful and delicate setting of a traditional Native American poem.
