Chris' Pick
Us and Them, Pink Floyd
A couple weeks ago marked the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon… one of my all-time favorite albums, and considered by many as one of the greatest recordings of all time. If you've never listened to this classic from beginning to end, it's an absolute must!
From Dark Side of the Moon, I've selected "Us and Them," as it includes many interesting chords (and lyrics) and has great dynamic contrast. Enjoy!
Dan's Pick
The Baby (from The Mandalorian), Ludwig Göransson
It's nearly impossible to imagine Star Wars without John Williams' iconic scores, but Ludwig Göransson has brought new life to the universe in recent years through his work on The Mandalorian. Featured at the end of Season 1, "The Baby" provides the perfect accompaniment to wrap one of the best additions to the Star Wars universe since the original trilogy.
Becca's Pick
All I Ask, Adele
I've been on a big Adele kick lately, and this is probably one of my favorite songs of hers to play on piano. From her album 25, this song was written by Adele, with some help from Bruno Mars and a few others. To me, this song stands out because the recording is so simple, featuring only a beautiful piano part along with Adele's powerful voice, yet packs such a punch.
Julia's Pick
Pressure, Ari Lennox
The song I chose this month is Ari Lennox's 2021 single, "Pressure." This tune has the catchiest baseline and a soulful 60's throwback vibe. It's a great tune to both play on the piano and to sing, and this choral arrangement captures the essence of the song - have fun with it!
Annie's Pick
Harry's Wondrous World (from Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone), John Williams
If you're a Harry Potter fan and looking for a challenge, we now have the full piano solo arrangement for "Harry's Wondrous World" available, which will keep you busy for a while! I don’t know about you, but for music like this that is so meaningful and influential to me, it's always fun to see the notes on the page! We also have several arrangements available for easy piano here.
Sam's Pick
Sympathy, Goo Goo Dolls
On the rare occasion I step away from the comfort of the piano and pick up the guitar, I tend to gravitate towards the songs I used to play in my early adulthood. "Sympathy" is a song from the Goo Goo Dolls' 2002 album Gutterflower and contains one of my favorite lyrics of all time: "you can't see when all your dreams are coming true."
