Becca's Pick
Turning Tables, Adele

This is one of my favorite Adele songs to play on piano. From her album 21, this song was written by Adele and Ryan Tedder (lead singer for OneRepublic), and is one of her many popular piano ballads to hit the charts with much success.

Sam's Pick
Closer to Fine, Indigo Girls

When I was at school, I used to love picking up the guitar and trying to strum my way through songs I'd heard on the radio (as long as they featured simple enough chords, of course!). One such song was "Closer to Fine" by The Wonder Stuff, which I later found out was originally written and recorded by Indigo Girls, and it served as a great intruction to the Atlanta duo's back-catalog!

George's Pick
Opening (from Glassworks), Philip Glass

Opening is an excellent introduction to the work of Philip Glass. Characterized by mesmerizing, repetitive structures, its elegant simplicity has made it a favorite among fans of contemporary classical music. It remains a timeless representation of Philip Glass' contribution to the world of minimalist composition.

Annie's Pick
Arabesque No. 1, Claude Debussy

Arabesque No. 1, composed by Claude Debussy in the late 1800s, is written in an impressionistic style where the notes sound like flowing water. Following a loose ABA structure, it starts in E major, transitions to the dominant A major, and then finds its way back to the main 3-against-2 theme in E major. Very beautiful!

Mark's Pick
Demons, Imagine Dragons

If there's one band I hear more than any in my household, it's Imagine Dragons - my son's favorite band. And the song he's been playing the most lately is "Demons," from the band's 2012 album, Night Visions.
