Annie's Pick
When I Love At You, Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus' "When I Look At You" was released in 2010 and was featured in the movie The Last Song. I love the simple chord progression in the beginning that builds up to the chorus, and the lyrics are very poetic, which is perfect for Valentine's Day.
Jill's Pick
My Love Is Your Love, Whitney Houston
I always thought this was Whitney's most underrated hit. The sweeping lyrics about needing nothing but each other are underscored by a simple, repetitive bass line - the foundation holding everything up. "As the years they pass us by, we stay young through each other's eyes" is what we all hope for!
Dan's Pick
Lover, Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift may be more ubiquitous with breakup songs, but her 2019 single "Lover" delivers a soft, captivating anthem with a narrative about falling in love and staying there.
Sam's Pick
Love Will Keep Us Alive, Eagles
I've always been a sucker for vocal harmonies, and this song from the Eagles' 1994 live album Hell Freezes Over has vocal harmonies aplenty. For mediocre guitarists like myself, it's a nice song to strum to without needing to be able to play barre chords!
Chris' Pick
All This Love, DeBarge
DeBarge's "All This Love" is a classic that embodies the very essence of a timeless love song, making it a must-have in any musician's repertoire. Enjoy its soulful chord progressions, smooth melody, and heartfelt lyrics!
George's Pick
At Last, Etta James
The nostalgic classic "At Last" was originally orchestrated but lends itself nicely to piano, thanks to its rich harmonies and captivating melody. You'll be in good company playing it, with artists like Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, and Leela James all covering the song.
