Louise's Pick
What Was I Made For?, Billie Eilish

This month, Billie Eilish became the youngest person to win more than one Academy Award after picking up 'Best Original Song' for her melancholic ballad "What Was I Made For?". Written for the empowering hit movie Barbie, Billie's intimate piano ballad serves as a leitmotif in its instrumental form throughout the movie, before the song is played out in full for maximum emotional impact in the closing scenes.

George's Pick
We Got the Beat, The Go-Go's

The Go-Go's hold significant importance as pioneers of the 1980s new wave/pop-punk movements and inspired countless women to pursue music careers. Their debut album, Beauty and the Beat (1981), made history by being the first album by an all-female band that wrote and performed its own music to top the Billboard 200 chart. "We Got the Beat" — a classic off the album — epitomizes their infectious energy and catchy melodies.

Jill's Pick
Paper Bag, Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple is a "must-have on a desert island" artist for me; I can always find something new in her songs. "Paper Bag" is one of her classics and a fine example of her skill at writing absolutely devastating lyrics over sweepingly beautiful music.

Dan's Pick
Madeline and Theo (from Celeste Piano Collections), Lena Raine

This "Madeline and Theo" arrangement from Celeste Piano Collections beautifully translates Lena Raine's original composition into a piano narrative that is both faithful and expressive. It strikes a balance between technical challenge and playability, making it accessible to intermediate pianists while deeply conveying the emotional journey of Celeste's characters.

Annie's Pick
Prelude No. 2 in B-Flat Major, Clara Schumann

Clara Schumann (1819–1896) was a renowned concert pianist during the Romantic Period. She performed extensively throughout Europe and premiered many of the piano works composed by her husband, Robert Schumann, as well as Johannes Brahms. During her lifetime, her compositions were only performed by herself, and they did not resurface until the mid-to-late 1900s. If you're a classical pianist, definitely checkout this 3 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 16 set — they're some beautiful lesser-known gems.

Sam's Pick
Make Your Own Kind of Music, Mama Cass Elliot

I think the first time I heard "Make Your Own Kind of Music" was in the TV series Lost, and it remains a song that always brings a smile to my face with its ever-pertinent message of treasuring our individuality.
