Sam's Pick
Fix You, Coldplay

Although I haven't attended Glastonbury in person, I enjoy tuning into the BBC coverage every year, and Coldplay proved why they are one of the best live acts around during their headline slot on the Saturday. The band brought out Michael J. Fox for their spine-tingling performance of "Fix You," which made me head to the piano immediately to play the song all over again.

Jacklyn's Pick
Born on the Fourth of July, John Williams

John Williams wrote this score for the movie Born on the Fourth of July which premiered on December 20, 1989. The film is about a young American man who showed patriotism by enlisting in the military during the Vietnam War and returned home with paraplegia and PTSD. While struggling to overcome those life-changing circumstances, he became an anti-war activist and diligently fought for the honor of his fellow Vietnam war veterans. The way Williams wrote this score exudes honor and patriotism beautifully, especially with the captivating trumpet solo.

Annie's Pick
L'AMOUR DE MA VIE, Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish's "L'AMOUR DE MA VIE" from her recent album Hit Me Hard and Soft is made up of two distinct sections — a jazzy retro-pop main section which then transitions to an electronic pop song "Over Now." I love the long musical lines in the beginning, as well as the beat and bassline throughout. This Piano, Vocal & Guitar arrangement is faithful to the recording and translates well for piano.

Chris' Pick
Bless the Broken Road, The Piano Guys

Having recently interviewed Jon and Steven from The Piano Guys, this month's pick is one of their beautiful arrangements. "Bless the Broken Road" by The Piano Guys captures the heart with its rich, emotive arrangement and intricate piano melodies. It's a must-have for any pianist looking to add a piece that showcases both skill and heartfelt expression.

Amy's Pick
Both Sides Now, Joni Mitchell (arr. Roger Emerson)

A recent choral performance reminded me of this exquisite Joni Mitchell song, one that I love but had not heard for a long time. It's musically stunning from the very first listen and the lyric feels straightforward, but I find that time and experience add so many more layers of meaning. Every artist feels it differently, making each performance unique and captivating.

Becca's Pick
Can't Fight This Feeling, REO Speedwagon

I thought it would be appropriate to pick a song that has a big birthday coming up – this rock power ballad happens to turn 40 later this year! "Can't Fight This Feeling" ended up being REO Speedwagon's last single to reach Number 1 on the U.S. charts back in the 80s – a song so epic, that it was more recently covered by the band Bastille, and was featured in more recent films such as Horton Hears a Who! and of course Rock of Ages.
